I have had Direct Insurance for many years. Since around 1976 or so. They have always been the greatest of help when I needed it. At one time I moved a lot around state and in and out of state. They took care of it. I had a wreck (fender bender) and they had it paid off by the following day. I just reported it, and they took care of it. My premiums didn't sky-rocket into outer space as it may have with other companies. I will always stay with Direct. If anything I will use their coverage on more things in my life. I have full confidence that they will be there in my times of trouble. For over 40 years, they have done that! Bravo...Two thumbs up for Direct Insurance Company! :-)
I was involved in a wreck on November 19th. The other person involved was at fault, and she had Direct. It is now December 26th and I still have yet to get my car fixed. The person who my claim was assigned to never answers the phone and will not return your calls. Every person I have talked to has not been that nice either. It took the company two weeks just to accept liability on the claim even though the police report clearly stated their insured was at fault. This whole experience has been a nightmare. If you ever have to file a claim through Direct, good luck. I wish I would have known sooner. I would have just filed through my insurance. My car would have most likely been fixed the same week of the accident if I had. I would not suggest Direct to anyone.
Update: I was able to drop my car off on Tuesday, but did not receive a rental car until that afternoon. Due to the last minute reservation I was stuck with a huge pick up truck that I could not drive. The rental truck had also only been reserved for me until Thursday. Do you really think a car can get fixed in two days? I was informed to have the garage call Direct and have them extend the rental since my car would not be ready. I contacted the garage and they said they would take care of it. I still have not heard anything and now I have had to return the rental truck. I am now having to borrow a car from my parents so I can get back and forth to work. The situation truly is not that complex. Simply have the person my claim is assigned to answer the phone or call me back. All of this could have been avoided if my claim would have been taken seriously. I know I am not the only customer Direct has, but come on. It is not that hard to call someone back or answer your phone. Especially when I called 4 days in a row.
